INTRODUCTION:
“The Eken: Benaras e Bibhishika” (2025) is the third film in the popular Eken Babu detective franchise, directed by Joydip Mukherjee and adapted from Sujan Dasgupta's novel Ideal Jewellery
STORY:
Eken Babu, the charmingly bumbling detective (Anirban Chakrabarti), arrives in Varanasi with his loyal sidekicks Bapi and Pramatha on an invitation from their friend Subimal. What begins as a leisurely trip amidst the spiritual hum of ghats and winding lanes soon becomes a race against time when they uncover cryptic, coded messages tied to a dangerous conspiracy aiming to sabotage the Masaan Holi festival. Guided by Eken’s off‑beat jokes, astute observations, and uncanny instinct, the trio delves into a tangled web of disguises, shifting motives, antiques, and unexpected allies—including the enigmatic Belal Malik (Saswata Chatterjee), whose multilayered presence keeps everyone guessing. As the festival draws near, Eken must unravel the puzzle and thwart the plot, blending wit, suspense, and the sacred energy of Benaras into a thrilling detective tale.
Review :- Low on suspense and fun. Bapi and Pramatha have almost nothing to do throughout the movie. Eken babu is good but not extraordinary. Saswata is all about different makeups.
