Aho Vikramarka (Movie)
INTRODUCTION:
"Aho Vikramarka" is a popular expression from South Indian folklore, especially in Telugu, referring to the legendary King Vikramaditya (Vikramarka in Telugu). His stories are well known for their wit, wisdom, bravery, and justice. These tales are collectively known as Vikramarka Kathalu or Vikram-Betal (Vikram and the Vampire) stories. Here's a simplified version of one such popular story from the "Vikramarka Kathalu" series:
STORY:
Once upon a time, in the great kingdom of Ujjaini, ruled the noble and just King Vikramarka. He was known far and wide for his intelligence and fairness.
One day, two women came to his court, fighting over a child. Each claimed the child as her own. The ministers were confused, and no one could tell who the real mother was. So they brought the case to King Vikramarka.
The king listened patiently. Then, he said,
“Cut the child in two and give one half to each woman.”
One woman immediately screamed,
“No! Please don’t hurt the child. Let her take the child, but spare his life!”
The other woman said nothing.
King Vikramarka smiled.
“The one who was ready to give up the child to save his life is the true mother.”
He returned the child to the real mother and punished the liar. The court praised the king:
“Aho Vikramarka!” — meaning “Oh, Vikramarka! What wisdom!”
